Hand over your ticket and enter the DeSales Media Experience, where old meets new. In this interactive room, DeSales Media Group, the communications and technology arm of the Diocese of Brooklyn, aims to entertain and enlighten you with presentations and an exhibit.
Virtual Reality Tour
Put on a pair of V.R. goggles and transport yourself into the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph, in an immersive 360-degree and 3-D virtual reality guided tour. DeSales Media Group envisions using this technology as a teaching tool for students and for virtual reality pilgrimages to distant lands.
Teachers are reinventing the learning process with the aid of impressive technology. During this presentation, you’ll step into a modern classroom, grab a tablet, and participate in a Classflow Connect history lesson that puts a new twist on the Gettysburg Address. Then, gather around the multi-touch ActivTable where you and others will collaborate toward a common goal. DeSales Media Group envisions incorporating this technology into classrooms across the diocese.
DeSales Media Group Exhibit
Enter the gallery area, and you will find front pages of The Tablet that date back to the early 1900s, plus relics from the vaults of the Diocese of Brooklyn. These rarely seen items include the chalice used by Pope John Paul II during an NYC visit; the passport belonging to the first bishop of Brooklyn, John Loughlin; the ornate mitre belonging to the second bishop of Brooklyn, Charles Edward McDonnell; and other diocesan treasures.
